Davis Clipper Spelling Bee Champs

Laura Marie Landon, a 7th grader at Millcreek Jr. High, accepts her trophy from the Bountiful Rotary club. She came away Spelling Bee Champion after more than a dozen rounds of tough competition at the March event. She will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship. At center, Donovan Christopher Jones, a 7th grader at South Davis Jr. High, won second place. He was awarded a $1,500 scholarship. At right, Cody Butterfield, a 6th grader at Burton Elementary, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for his third-place win. The Davis Clipper and The Islander were the media sponsor of the bee and the Rotary Club, K&L Designs and Signature Press were among the business sponsors.
