FARMINGTON — A man initially booked into the Davis County Jail in January following a hit-and-run accident is facing additional charges for vehicle burglaries he is suspected of committing in December 2012 and early January.

Collin Andrew Currie, 40, is facing charges of theft, vehicle burglary, criminal mischief,  unlawful use of a financial transaction card and other charges related to the hit-and-run.

He is being held in the Davis County Jail on $122,800 bond.

Currie was initially arrested by Layton police Jan. 1, following the accident on Antelope Drive.

After reports of an accident involving a stolen vehicle, police tried to stop Currie, a press statement released at the time said.

He allegedly hit two other vehicles while westbound on Antelope Drive, according to police. No one was injured.

Police say he led them on two chases until officers found the vehicle in an apartment complex in Clearfield, where they found the car unoccupied but running.

Then, officers saw Currie in a field, where he allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at his own head, police said.

Currie didn’t drop the gun when ordered, so a police dog was deployed and bit him on the upper arm. Currie was arrested and treated at an area hospital before being taken to jail. The handgun was a BB gun.

Officers said they found evidence in the vehicle that he may have been involved in the Layton auto burglaries, said Layton Police Sgt. James Petre.

About $700 in property was taken from the vehicles, including credit cards used to purchase about $1,800 in merchandise. Damage to vehicles totaled $1,000.
