KAYSVILLE — The Davis Darts baseball team continued on its hot streak on Monday, winning their nine of its last 10 games Monday.

The team took down the Bountiful Braves 6-3.

Before heading to California for the annual Lions’ Tournament, the Vikings picked up their first win of the season, and the Wildcats continued to win after beating Highland in Region 6 play.

Darts beat Bountiful 6-3

After winning the Vivint Orem Tiger Baseball Classic last Saturday by downing Wasatch 11-5, the Darts took the field on Monday to battle the Bountiful Braves in a cross-town, non-region game.

Gage Cook pitched 5 and two-thirds innings for the Darts.

Davis has won five straight ball games.

Vikings break out with 4-1 win over Copper Hills

After several one-run losses to open their 2013 baseball campaign, the Viewmont Vikings got their first win last week. It was a tight game before winning pitcher Isaac Evans delivered a dramatic 3-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Against Copper Hills Grizzlies, the defense was consistent and the pitching, stellar. Brendan Jensen threw three solid innings, giving up a single hit and no runs.

Copper Hills got its only run when a slow infield chopper scored Zach Hoffman, who had singled to start the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, lead-off hitter Hunter Roybal reached first when Copper Hills mishandled his grounder. Nate Remington then bunted Roybal into scoring position and when the Grizzlies decided to intentionally walk Taggart, who went 3-for-3, Evans drove the first pitch he saw over the left field fence.

Wildcats continue winning in Region 6, beat Highland

Before heading to the Lions Tournament in California, the Woods Cross Wildcats baseball team finished its third consecutive Region 6 game by downing Cyprus 6-0.

Pitching for the Wildcats was Jake Kocherhans. Woods Cross allowed five hits and didn’t commit an error on defense.
