WOODS CROSS — The Bountiful Lady Braves and Woods Cross Lady Wildcats squared off on the softball field for the first time this spring, and the Braves were the first to claim victory.
They downed Woods Cross 12-0 last Thursday.
The Lady Darts also won Thursday afternoon, beating West 12-0 to snap a two-game skid, and Eliza Thornley helped the Viking beat Brighton 7-6 in non-region action.
Lady Braves claim first win over Woods Cross
With Bountiful’s Belle Stoddard pitching well inside the circle, the Lady Braves softball team scored nine of its 12 total runs in the first three innings in order to down Woods Cross 12-0 last Thursday.
Stoddard, who picked up her ninth win of the season, allowed just two hits, and the Lady Braves defense committed just one error in the win.
Payton Hart hit a triple as part of Bountiful’s 14-hit attack, and Hanalee Robinson took the loss for Woods Cross.
Lady Darts rout West, 12-0
Davis’ Cierra Udeth, Kayla Pusey and Payton Yearke each hit doubles for the Davis Lady Darts softball team, and Davis scored seven runs in their half of the fourth inning to beat the West High Panthers 12-0 last Thursday at Davis High School.
Cheyenne Norton pitched inside the circle for Davis, allowing two hits and earning the shutout. The Lady Darts used 12 hits to score their 12 runs in the game, and committed zero errors on the field.
The win snapped a short two-game losing skid for the Darts.
Brighton comeback falls short, Viewmont wins 7-6
The Viewmont Lady Vikings allowed a pair of runs to Brighton in the top of the seventh inning, but closed the door on its ninth win of the season by claiming a 7-6 victory over the Bengals last Thursday afternoon at home.
Caitlyn Larsen finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple, and Staci Payne hit a double as part of Viewmont’s 10-hit attack, scoring four runs to take the lead for good.
Eliza Thornley picked up the win for Viewmont, her ninth of the season.
On Tuesday, April 9, Viewmont will travel to Granger High School to battle the Lancers in Region 2 play, and Bountiful will go to Highland to take on the Rams.
Woods Cross will host region opponent East as well. All of those games will start at 3:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 10, Davis will host Syracuse to kick off Region 1 play at 3:30 p.m.
