April 16

• The South Davis Chapter of AARP will hold its monthly meeting, 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Years Center, 726 S. 100 East, Bountiful. Lewis Phelps, PhD, will speak on the importance of music curriculum in schools.

• Davis County Library will host Brandon Mull, bestselling author of the Beyonders and Fablehaven series, at the Davis County South Branch Library, 725 S. Main, Bountiful. This event is free and will be begin at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m). Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The public is encouraged to come early for best seats. 

April 19

• “Romeo & Juliet” - The Utah “Shakespeare-in-the-Schools” Tour performance at the Layton High School Theater,  7 to 9 p.m.  Free admission for the enitre community.  Appropriate for students of all ages, family and friends.  This Shakespeare production was adapted from the original Shakespeare play. It is performed by a cast of professional actors from the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Romeo meets Juliet at a masked ball and love sparks, swept along by flights of poetry and ecstatic romance. But the young lovers fall victim to their feuding families. Exuberant and tragic, this is a timeless love story full of truth and lessons of love.  The Layton High School Theater is located at 440 Lancer Lane, Layton.  Production includes a “talk-back” discussion with the professional actors, after the 75 min. show! 

April 21

• Antelope Island State Park – Syracuse. Earth Day Celebration: Meet at the visitor center at 9 a.m. and caravan to the ranch for a presentation about how birds use natural and man-made material for constructing nests. Also look for birds, nests, and other natural park features. Dress to spend time outside. This event is weather dependent. Park entrance fees apply. 801-721-9569.

April 24

• “Those Were The Days” is the theme of the sixth annual Senior Gala Dinner-Dance from 6 to 9 p.m.  Hosted by Davis County Health Department Senior Services, the dinner, floorshow, and dancing to live Big Band music are the festivities planned for a senior citizens’ “Senior Prom.” The price of $7.50 per person makes this event affordable.  Call or pick up tickets at the Autumn Glow Senior Activity Center (801-544-1235), Kaysville; Golden Years Senior Activity Center (801-295-3479), Bountiful, and the North Davis Senior Activity Center (801-525-5080), Clearfield.  The deadline for ticket reservations is April 17. The dinner-dance is in the Davis High School Commons and cafeteria at 325 South Main in Kaysville.  Davis High School’s Jazz Band along with several talented student singers and dancers transform themselves into the Moonlight Orchestra, Moonlight Singers, and Moonlight Dancers providing a floorshow and dance music from the Big Band era. The event is best dress. Senior supporters are encouraged to escort and maybe even dance with their favorite senior relative, friend or neighbor.

April 25-26

• The South Davis Special Needs Mutual is presenting “Rock Of Ages” at the Bountiful Regional Center, 7 p.m. Admission is free. Over 150 members and volunteers of the SDSN Mutual will be participating.


April 19-20

• The Temple Square Chorale, accompanied by the Orchestra at Temple Square, will present its annual concert, 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle. Free tickets are available at or by calling 801-570-0080.

May 6

• Barlow Bradford will conduct the Utah Chamber Artists choir and orchestra in the  final concert of their season, 7:30 p.m. in Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the University of Utah campus. • Davis County Health Department’s Family Caregiver Support Program is offering a six-week series of classes for individuals caring for family members who are older or frail. These classes are free to the public. Individuals may attend at any time during the series. The one-hour classes are offered on Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Legacy House of Bountiful, 79 E.
