CENTERVILLE — As part of its “Community Matters!” series, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will look at mental illness on April 24 at 7 p.m., at the church, 1131 S. Main. The event is free and open to the public.
The forum will cover the issues of recognizing mental illness, intervention, treatment options and the cost of mental health care. Health care and public safety professionals from Davis Behavioral Health, the Veterans Administration, private clinics and the Bountiful Police Department will participate in a panel discussion.
By some estimates, at least one in six people will suffer the effects of some form of mental illness each year, organizers say. These include depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and schizophrenia.
“Community Matters!” forums have been developed by the church to address major issues confronting residents of south Davis County. Past forums have dealt with issue of domestic violence, sexual orientation and Alzheimer’s disease.
