This letter is in response to the countless issues and dangers that can be found on our county’s roads; the lack of regulations is appalling. On behalf of the many frightened drivers of Davis County, I would like to discuss how to improve the driving system. Thousands of accidents could be prevented through new, reasonable policies.
I have seen the carnage that can be wrought through the negligence of the government. I live on the corner of a Bountiful neighborhood intersection that has never been marked with anything such as a yield or stop sign. There have been many collisions right outside my door. One was serious enough to land a vehicle upside-down on my lawn, endangering a pregnant woman.
According to the “authorities,” we are not allowed to add any precaution signs to the intersection unless there is a long history of accidents in the area. This is madness. Why would the police choose to ignore the warnings rather than prevent future injury? I propose that we regulate more closely the use of cautionary signs at intersections based on the danger of the situation С not in a way that provides action after the damage, but to prevent these fatal occurrences in the future.
