NORTH SALT LAKE — The Ladies of Charity group affiliated with St. Olaf Catholic Church is hosting an open house on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to celebrate its new location, two doors down from its previous one.
The Center of Hope is located at 74 S. Orchard Drive. It is a food pantry focused on serving those in need on North Salt Lake, Woods Cross and West Bountiful, said Ladies of Charity spokeswoman Valerie Myers.
The open house event will include a blessing from Father Reynato Rodillas, pastor of St. Olaf Church, refreshments and tours of the facility.
The center opened as a food pantry in May 2010. Daughter of Charity Sister Germaine Sarrazin serves as its moderator.
It serves those in need no matter their faith.
Since opening, the center has installed a commercial refrigerator. In addition to canned goods, the center now also distributes such items as yogurt, butter, cheese eggs and milk.
The center receives some food from the Utah Food Bank and gets help with holiday food boxes and other items from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services in Centerville.
