FARMINGTON —  The contribution of senior volunteers in Davis County will be recognized by proclamation of Senior Corps week, May 6-10.

Seniors volunteer at schools, meals-on-wheels, Davis and Lakeview Hospitals, Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter and Antelope Island, said Sally Kershisnik, senior services director for the Davis County Health Department.

“These folks make a great difference,” said Davis County Commissioner Louenda Downs. The commission signed a proclamation noting observance of the week.

The proclamation notes that “older Americans bring a lifetime of skills and experience as parents, workers, and citizens that can be tapped to meet challenges in our communities.”

Senior Corps has overseen volunteer efforts for more than four decades. It oversees the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Senior Companions and Foster Grandparents.
