Braves win twice, ‘Cats crush Rams

BOUNTIFUL The Bountiful Lady Braves softball team keeps on winning. The ladies grabbed a pair of wins over Bear River and Cyprus Monday and Tuesday.

Woods Cross kept its playoff hopes alive by beating down Highland, and Davis and Viewmont won their region games over Weber and Kearns, respectively.

Lady Braves roll, win pair of games

After beating Bear River 5-1 Monday afternoon, the Bountiful Lady Braves picked up another region win and crushed Cyprus 17-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Belle Stoddard pitched a five-inning, three-hit shutout for the Lady Braves, and Bountiful used a 17-hit attack to score all 17 runs. The game ended on the mercy rule after Bountiful scored five fifth-inning runs.

Cara May Fackrell had the best day at the plate for Bountiful, hitting a pair of doubles and a home run in the win.

Johnson hits big, helps Wildcats crush Rams

Manni Johnson perhaps had the best day for the Woods Cross softball team, hitting two doubles and a home run as the Lady Wildcats crushed Highland 15-0 in four innings Tuesday.

Woods Cross scored three runs in the first and second innings, then extended its lead to 13-0 after scoring seven runs in the third.

They finished the game with a pair of fourth-inning runs to force the mercy rule.

Hanalee Robinson picked up the win inside the circle, her fifth of the season.

Lady Darts win close game to Weber, 3-2

Cheyenne Norton notched her 10th win of the season Tuesday afternoon by allowing two runs on five hits as the Lady Darts beat Weber 3-2 Tuesday afternoon.

Davis took the lead with a three-run third inning, but Weber scored two runs in the fourth to close the gap to a single run. Norton kept Weber from scoring the rest of the way for the win.

The Lady Darts have won four straight games.

Lady Vikings crush Kearns to stay unbeaten

The Viewmont softball team won its eighth-straight game Tuesday by beating Kearns 14-4 to stay unbeaten in Region 2 play.

Amanda Barley had three extra base hits, and Caitlyn Larsen hit her 10th home run of the season as the Vikings knocked around Kearns with 16 hits and 14 runs.

Eliza Thornley got the win inside the circle.

Scores were provided by the respective teams.

Upcoming games

The Lady Darts will host Fremont Thursday afternoon, and Viewmont will take the bus down to Taylorsville in Region 2 action.

Bountiful will also be on the road, facing East, and Woods Cross will host Clearfield.

All games will start at 3:30 p.m.
