Layton car burglar pleads guilty

FARMINGTON — Collin Andrew Currie pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors on Wednesday to seven felonies and two misdemeanors.

Currie committed numerous vehicle burglaries in December 2012 and early January 2013 in Layton.

Police initially arrested him after a police pursuit that ended in a hit-and-run accident on Jan. 1 on Antelope Drive.

At the time of the arrest, officers found about $700 in property that was taken from vehicles, including credit cards used to purchase about $1,800 in merchandise, said Layton Sgt. James Petrie.

Currie, 40, was in 2nd District Court, where prosecutors agreed to dismiss 35 other charges.

He will he sentenced on June 26.
