The Viewmont Vikings boys' tennis team finished the 5A state tennis tournament as state champions, topping Brighton by scoring 22 total points.

Viewmont's 22 points was three points better than Brighton, which finished second for the first time in the past eight seasons.

Individually, the Tullis brothers of Sam and Jacob each won a title for the Vikings. Sam defended last year's state title by downing Cottonwood's Zeke Richards 7-6 (6-2), 6-4. Jacob Tullis won in straight sets over Alta's Andy Ovard for his first individual title.

The Vikings finished second in the first and second doubles brackets, giving them just enough points to down the Bengals. Brighton's third singles, first doubles and second doubles took home individual titles.

A full story of the Vikings' state title can be viewed in the upcoming issue of the Clipper.
