LAYTON — National Trails Day will be observed along the old Denver, Rio Grande & Western Railroad line that now hosts many miles of public trails.

The cities of Clearfield, Clinton, Layton, Kaysville and Farmington are planning events.

As in the past, Layton City officials will host events from the Ellison Park Trailhead, 750 N. Cold Creek Way.

Official events are set from 10 a.m. to noon. The day offers a way to discover the trail, win prizes, play games and find hidden treasures, or to receive free gifts from event participants such as Petco.

Everyone is welcome:  runners, joggers, walkers, bikers, roller bladers, skateboarders and pets (on a leash).

In addition, Kaysville has a portion of its trail open for equestrian use.

For more information and specific times, contact individual cities.
