KAYSVILLE — Davis High School basketball star Alex Morrell has announced his verbal commitment to play for USU Eastern Junior College.
The announcement came via email from Utah Hustle coach Chad Rawlings on Tuesday.
“Alex is a tremendously strong player who will do great things at USU Eastern,” said Rawlings. “I am so proud of Alex and his accomplishments both on and off the court.”
Morrell played under Rawlings for the past two seasons and was a three-year player at Davis High School. He was part of a team that started the season with a 13-2 record, eventually reaching the quarterfinals of the 5A boys’ basketball playoffs.
Morrell averaged 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a senior. His career high in points came against Fremont during region play, where he scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Morrell will be serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Raleigh, North Carolina, and plans to play for the Golden Eagles in 2015.
