Over the last six years I have been privileged to coach my sons in baseball. Each year, these youth spend countless hours working on improving their various skills. Youth come out with a variety of different talent levels.
On a rare occasion siblings, parents, and grandparents will witness incredible things that happen. Two occurred during this season for the Cardinals 9-10-year-old team playing for South Davis.
The first came on May 29th, when Charlie Scholz, No. 11, came up to bat with two on base. The pitch was low and he went down and made a great connection, lifting it over the center field fence.
The second occurred today when Braiden Hewitson, No. 8, completed an unassisted triple play. It began with an improbable over-the-shoulder catch. He then tagged the base runner at second, and then stepped on third for the final out. Pretty incredible for two 10-year-olds. All the practice and hard work does eventually pay off.
