Editor,

I’ve been a dog owner for 16 years right here in beautiful Bountiful. I have spent hours walking my dog and running him in the school yards and parks that are located near me. I always control my dog and clean up after him. I use these areas when no one else is using them. Now Bountiful City is putting up signs and the police are giving tickets to us for using the areas we have always used. Where are we supposed to go? I want to throw a ball and have my dog bring it back. I can’t do that in my small backyard. There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of dog owners right here in Bountiful. Let us use these areas. Change the city policy and supply dog clean up bags for those who forget them. I pay taxes to use the parks too and I see no reason not to take my dog there. I especially love the upper ball field at Tolman Park. It is fenced, seldom used during the day and a great place to run my dog. Instead, people are getting ticketed for walking their dogs there, even on a leash. Please help us change the policy. We need areas for our dogs to run.

Karen Butters,

Bountiful
