FRUIT HEIGHTS — A woman remains hospitalized after her estranged husband allegedly cut her throat at Nicholl's Park late Tuesday night.
Kristopher Lee Ertmann, 25, was booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, a woman made a 911 call saying her estranged husband had cut her neck, according to Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
The couple met in the park, after it had closed for the night, to discuss the terms of their divorce, Poulsen said.
"Sometime during the meeting, he pulled out a sharp object and cut her in the neck," Poulsen said. We're not yet sure what that object was."
The victim managed to drive off and call 911.
She was taken to Ogden Regional Medical Center with a critical wound and underwent surgery, Poulsen said.
"If people are in the middle of a separation and there's a potential for violence, we encourage them to call law enforcement before any meeting," Poulsen said. "We're happy to show up to keep the peace."
