FARMINGTON — Eleven students from Davis, Northridge and Layton high schools competed at the Technology Student Association national championships in Orlando, Fla. earlier this summer, placing in the top 10 in several categories.
After winning the state competition in Essays on Technology for three years in a row, Carly Capener of Layton High took first place in the nation in the category this year.
Capener and teammate Mason Lowe placed fifth in the nation in Architectural Renovation. The two had won twice in state competitions.
Other winners were Rian Lucas and Adam Berry of Davis High, who placed third in the nation in VEX Robotics, and Mitch Roos of Layton High, who placed eighth in the nation in Transportation Model of a futuristic train prototype.
