BOUNTIFUL — A national organization, Senior America, is inviting participants 60 years of age or older to compete in what they call a celebration of values, accomplishments and service.

The Ms. Utah Senior American Pageant leads to the Senior America Pageant and is not a beauty pageant. Instead, it focuses on accomplishments and is open to all senior women 60 and older in the state of Utah.

Ms. Utah Senior America for 2006-07 was Bountiful resident Janet Seamons, who also participated as Cameo Club president. The club is a service club for retired senior women.

This year, Ms. Utah Senior America will be held at the Cottonwood High Auditorium at 5717 S 1300 E in Salt Lake City at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Before the evening begins, participants will go through a five-minute interview with a panel of judges. There will also be a buffet supper before the event.

That night, each participant gives a memorized “Philosophy of Life” speech, performs a two-minute talent and ends with a formal gown presentation.
