FARMINGTON — A North Salt Lake man pleaded guilty to charges related to graffiti on Tuesday and will be sentenced Sept. 24.

Matthew Todakonzie, 21, entered guilty pleas to one count of third-degre felony graffiti violation, one count of class A misdemeanor graffiti violation and one count of class B misdemeanor criminal mischief.

North Salt Lake police reported a significant increase in graffiti cases in February, mainly in the Foxboro area.

Detectives working the cases soon determined that it was the work of the same person, police said at the time. Through Internet posts, police narrowed the search to Todakonzie and served a search warrant at his home.

There, police found paints and markers. Todakonzie admitted to police that he had been doing the graffiti and led officers to other areas he had painted.

He was originally charged with 18 counts of graffiti violation: two third-degree felony counts, one class A misdemeanor and 15 class B misdemeanors.
