FRUIT HEIGHTS – After considering bids from five haulers, the Fruit Heights city council voted to offer the contract for recycling to Robinson Waste, the city’s garbage hauler.

Robinson’s bid came in the lowest, said Brandon Green, city manager.

“Price was an important component,” said Mayor Todd Stevenson, “but also the stability of the company, customer service and a number of different factors.”

He said the city has been very happy with Robinson.

“I think it will work out really well,” he said.

No definitive dates have been set for the service to begin. Stevenson estimated it was most likely to begin after the first of September.

Recycling service is now offered to city residents through Mountain West Recycling, which has been vocal against the city plan.
