South Weber man faced with felony charges.

SOUTH WEBER – A South Weber man made his first appearance in court on Friday, Aug. 16, after charges were filed the day before at the Second District Court in Farmington.

Tyson Degray Thompson, 35, was arrested earlier this week after a domestic dispute with his estranged wife. He made his initial appearance in court today. He has a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday, Sept. 4, and was held without bail, said Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings.

Jason Nelson, the prosecuting attorney, was not available for comment.

Thompson’s estranged wife called about a domestic situation, where she told officers she was grabbed by the throat, Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen said. An injury report also said she was struck in the face and arms, and Poulsen said there was bruising on the wife’s body consistent with the report.

He also allegedly assaulted the wife’s friend before leaving the home.

“We had further information come in later that he was contacting her via text messages,” Poulsen said, “which is a violation of a protective order.”

He was arrested at his work without incident, said Poulsen.

Police have had a history of dealing with the couple, and have had to respond on several previous domestic situations. Thompson has been arrested before, Poulsen said.
