SALT LAKE CITY — LDS Church leaders on Tuesday announced the release of the inaugural volume 1 of the Joseph Smith Papers Project Documents Series: July 1828-June 1831.

Joseph Smith Papers Project team members made the announcement at the Church History Library.  They were joined by Elder Steven E. Snow, church historian, and recorder and Richard Turley, assistant church historian and recorder.

Historic documents in the series include Joseph Smith’s revelations, reports of his discourses and personal letters both sent and received. Also in this collection are articles Joseph Smith wrote for newspapers, minutes of his meetings, and Church administrative records.

The project researches, collects and publishes all manuscripts and documents created by Joseph Smith, founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
