BOUNTIFUL — As preseason games continued throughout the state in high school football, rivals converged on the field Friday as Viewmont took the short trip to Bountiful High School to face the Braves.

Bountiful won convincingly, beating Viewmont 42-0 and creating a small two-game win streak in the process.

Woods Cross and Davis also prevailed, each improving to 2-0 during preseason play.

Bountiful Braves receiver Tanner Redding caught three passes for touchdowns last Friday, racking up 118 yards in the process as the Braves downed Viewmont for the second consecutive year.

In the 42-0 shutout victory, Trevor Lloyd and Jordan Hayes threw at least one touchdown each, combining to throw for 191 yards and three touchdown passes without an interception.

Max Latu, Houston Heimuli and Mana Vea accounted for Bountiful’s other touchdowns, scoring one each on the ground.

Both the Braves and the Vikings are 1-1 on the season.

Parker Rose scores twice, Davis rolls over Hunter 38-7

Parker Rose ran for two touchdowns, Mason White added a third rushing touchdown, and Colton Chronister threw for a score as the Darts improved to 2-0 on the season with a 38-7 win over Hunter.

White, who rushed for 111 yards on 18 carries, scored on a 44-yard run in the second quarter. Rose’s pair of touchdowns came on runs of 13 and 17 yards, respectively, and Chronister’s touchdown pass went to Abel Porter on a 63-yard catch and run.

Davis Owen, the Darts’ kicker, kicked three field goals and converted three points after touchdown in the win.

Wildcats top 40-point mark, win big over Judge

For the second consecutive week, the Wildcats scored at least 30 points in a football game.

Last Friday against Judge Memorial, Woods Cross put up 41 points in a convincing 41-14 victory over the Bulldogs to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Wildcats scored at a steady pace against Judge Memorial, scoring 21 points in the first half and 20 in the second.

Woods Cross has now started 2-0 in each of its two seasons under head coach Justin Spencer.

Games this week

After picking up its first win of the season, Bountiful will travel to Logan to take on the Grizzlies.

For the Braves, Friday’s game will be the first of three straight road games before returning home to take on arch-rival Woods Cross.

Davis’ home-opening win will be followed by another home game Friday night as the Darts are set to take on Taylorsville.

Woods Cross will host Viewmont in a battle between cross-town teams. Last season the Wildcats beat Viewmont 41-16.

All games will kick off Friday night at 7 p.m.
