At the end of August, 342 appeals had been received, said Dale Peterson, Tax Administration director. That compares to 540 a year ago, and even more in 2011.
“We’re geared up to get the bulk of the appeals that last week,” he said, adding that no specific areas of the county have proven to have a higher percentage of appeals.
He said staff is available to discuss tax valuations with those coming in or calling, including for questions on how to file an appeal.
Appeals must include three types of evidence: an appraisal of the property if already obtained for a refinance or otherwise, settlement statements if the home was purchased since January of 2012, or by supplying a list of comparable sales in the property owner’s area.
