SALT LAKE CITY — Nine Latter-day Saint artists, including three from Bountiful, will be featured at this year’s Artists at Work event at the LDS Church History Museum  on Friday, Sept. 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

This year’s lineup of artists includes six painters, a potter, a paper cutter and a furniture maker.

Garth and Anne Marie Oborn and Sandra Rast, well-known painters in south Davis County, Annie Henrie, Emily Christiansen McPhie and Lynn Farrer (also known as Sophie Soprano), will finish paintings during the show, according to a Church Museum press release.

Ben Behunin will make pottery, Melissa Clark will explain the art of scherenschnitte or paper cutting, and Dale Peel will speak about making replica Mormon furniture.

“We’re very excited about our artists this year, said coordinator Peggy Rinehart, in the release. “Each one of them is extremely talented and all are very well-respected and have accomplished so much in their respective fields.”

The chance to watch master artists create is a major draw.

“People love to watch the creative process take place right in front of them while artists are at work,” Rinehart said in the release.  “The program continues to be popular because everyone loves to see how art is created by those who have a vision and gift for making beautiful things.”

Artists at Work is a part of the museum’s Evenings at the Museum series, which presents programs throughout the year about Latter-day Saint history, art, music and culture.

The event is free and open to the public from 6:30 until 9 p.m.
