At the parking lot look for the flat trail on the south side and hike north toward the chair lift. After crossing under the lift, you will come to a junction. Take the Silver Fork Trail. You arrive at the cabin road quickly. Head uphill. Stay on the road till the pavement ends. You come to the end of the pavement and the road forks. Stay to the right. On this dirt road you will see a sign on the left saying “No Camping.” This is the trail section you can take, or just stay on the road. Both lead to the mine. I decided to take the trail first and road back on my return. At this junction you are .85 miles into your hike. From the trail you will cross a dry creek bed and connect to the road again. This happens at 1.4 miles. Take the road uphill. From the road, watch for a trail on the right heading uphill. You have a choice of taking this trail or staying on the road to the mine. I took the trail. From the trail you come to a trail split. The trail going up hill is to the upper mine, Prince of  Wales. Stay to the left for the lower mine. If you decide to visit the second mine, the trail becomes more steep. The lower mine is sealed — never enter a open mine. Enjoy!
