“He didn’t win. He was booked into jail,” said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.
Kolbey Rice, 22, of West Point, was arrested on simple assault charges on Sunday for the incident that allegedly occurred on Friday.
The incident happened sometime Friday night at a party in a home in West Point, Poulsen said. As the party-goers were leaving, someone made a remark, “that was not appreciated by one party reveler.”
Rice allegedly threw the victim to the ground and beat him into unconsciousness, Poulsen said.
Deputies didn’t hear of the attack until Sunday, after the victim had gone home and had slept through most of Saturday, Poulsen said. The victim’s family took him to the hospital on Sunday. He has since been released.
It was only after the victim had been treated that it was reported to police, Poulsen said.
“If there’s a silver lining, it’s that no weapons were involved,” Poulsen said. “Too often now, that’s what happens.”
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the attack.
