KAYSVILLE — Participants in this year’s Monster Mash & Dash on Saturday, Oct. 12, might be found painting pumpkins, running for their lives or dancing in a silent disco.

A variety of activities is on the docket again this year, and organizers have scheduled events to interest families and children of all ages.

Events begin at 5 p.m. at Heritage Park, 250 N. Fairfield Road, with registration for the 5K “Run for Your Life” run.

Those who pre-register before Saturday pay $15 per person and will receive a T-shirt. Up to six family members can participate in the run for an additional $5 each. Fees increase to $25 for the first runner and $10 for additional runners from the same family on the day of the race, and T-shirts are not guaranteed same-day registrants.

At 5:15 p.m., a free “Zombie Dash” for children ages 8 and under begins and children’s games, pumpkin painting and story telling runs to 8 p.m. A princess party is also planned for the evening event.

Costumes are encouraged for the 5K race that begins at 6 p.m. A pie-eating contest and the judging of scarecrows and carved pumpkins will follow.

At 7 p.m., Mont Dutson, a hypnotist, will take the stage. Dutson has been named Favorite Family Entertainer by Utah Family Magazine for the past three years.

The evening concludes with a “silent disco,” where dancers are provided wireless headphones and dance to music others can’t hear.
