Veteran educator and Bountiful resident Ray Briscoe will present “A Critique of Utah and national public school education: Weaknesses and Strengths,” Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the South Davis (Bountiful) Branch Library, 725 S. Main, Bountiful. It will be held in the basement auditorium.
Briscoe’s former students are specifically invited, but the free program is open to anyone interested in education today, he said.
Briscoe taught at Bountiful High School for 14 years, from its second graduating class in 1945 to 1971. He served 12 years on the Davis School Board, and also evaluated LDS Seminary teachers’ abilities. He holds degrees from six universities, including Stanford.
“I’m very positive about Utah education, but I’m not positive about the amount of funding. I think we’re being hurt badly,” he said.
