LAYTON — Layton police have arrested a man who allegedly confessed to robbing the same Sinclair convenience store in Layton on Oct. 8 and 9.

Tyler Hart, 36, Kaysville, was arrested on Thursday, after Layton detectives received a tip from someone who had seen the robbery suspect’s photograph on the news.

Upon questioning, Hart allegedly confessed to having robbed the Sinclair convenience store, 1509 N. Highway 89, on Oct. 8 and 9. Police say he also admitted to committing three robberies in Bountiful, since May, according to Layton Police Lt. Shawn Horton.

Detectives also say they located clothing in Hart’s vehicle that matched that worn during the robbery.

Hart allegedly told detectives he demanded money from the clerks and told them he had a gun. Police say he then pointed a finger at the clerks through his sweatshirt pocket.

He also allegedly admitted that during the Oct. 9 robbery the clerk refused to give him money and he fought with the clerk. He then allegedly displayed a pocket knife before taking the money

Layton and Bountiful detectives have been working together on the case. Layton detectives booked Hart into jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree felony aggravated robbery, Horton said. Bountiful police added three counts of first-degree felony aggravated robbery against Hart.

The Davis County Attorney’s office will not file charges against Daniel Goodell. Goodell was arrested for the Oct. 8 robbery. However, Horton said police have no evidence Goodell is associated with Hart. Goodell remains in the Davis County Jail for am unrelated probation violation.
