Darts, Wildcats, Braves pick up wins; Vikings lose sixth straight

KAYSVILLE - The Davis Darts football team stayed perfect on the season last Thursday after beating Northridge 27-13.

The Vikings, still searching for their first region win, went back to Viewmont High School with a loss, their sixth in a row.

In Region 6, both Woods Cross and Bountiful picked up wins over Kearns and Cyprus, respectively.


Davis downs Northridge in downpour, 27-13

It was a wet, sloppy game from kickoff until the final whistle, but the Davis Darts football team picked up their seventh win in a row last Thursday after taking down the Knights 27-13.

The Darts took advantage of five Knights’ turnovers, turning two of them into touchdowns.

In the first quarter, Kamerson Perkins recovered a fumble and returned it 37 yards for the first touchdown in the game.

The second turnover Davis took advantage of came in the fourth quarter. After Davis scored to take a 20-13 lead, Matt Morrell intercepted a pass from Northridge’s Ben Jackson, returning the ball to the two yard line.

Morrell ended the game with two interceptions. The Darts also recovered three Northridge fumbles.


Viewmont loses sixth straight, drop to Layton 26-0

The Viewmont Vikings football team is still in search of its first region win after losing to Layton 26-0 last Thursday.

The loss marks the Vikings’ sixth straight since opening the season with a win over Bonneville.

Davis Marriott of Layton scored two touchdowns, a three-yard and five-yard score that helped the Lancers take a 12-0 lead.

The defense for Layton scored the final touchdown of the night when Jordan Jaramillo returned an interception 55 yards for a score.

Marriott finished the game with 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns to lead the Lancers.


Woods Cross pummels Kearns 47-14

The Wildcats football team ran its winning streak to four games and improved its record to 7-1 overall this season after downing the Kearns Cougars, 47-14.

Six of the Wildcats’ seven total touchdowns came on the ground. Tomosi Giles and Braxton Gunther each rushed for three touchdowns against Kearns, which scored touchdowns in the first and third quarters in the loss.

Gunther rushed for over 100 yards in the Wildcats’ win.


Bountiful spears Cyprus, 45-10

Bountiful’s Houston Heimuli rushed for three touchdowns, and Trevor Lloyd threw a touchdown pass in a 45-10 thumping over the Cyprus Pirates.

For Heimuli, his three rushing touchdowns brought his total up to 12 this season. Max Latu and Kaden Simmons also rushed for touchdowns.

Lloyd’s lone touchdown pass went to Ryan Curtis.


Games this week

Davis, Viewmont and Woods Cross all played on Wednesday night against Layton, Fremont and Corner Canyon, respectively.

Results from those games are posted on the Davis Clipper’s website.

Thursday night will see the Braves battle for first place with East High School. That game will be played at East.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. for all games.
