FARMINGTON - A guilty plea was entered in 2nd District Court by a man who robbed a North Salt Lake bank Sept. 13.

Jerry Hopes, 55, robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at 2440 S. 500 West. The plea was entered to a first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge.

A sentencing hearing has been set for Dec. 3, an Ogden newspaper reported.

Hopes entered the bank about 3:50 p.m., said North Salt Lake Assistant Police Chief Troy Johnson.

He handed a note to the teller demanding cash and brandished a knife, Johnson said. The teller gave him $1,000 and he left the bank in a vehicle.

Bank employees followed him into the parking lot and took pictures of the vehicle as he drove away. A description of the vehicle was broadcast on police radios and a Division of Motor Vehicles officer saw Hopes and followed him southbound on I-15 to 500 West and 300 South in Salt Lake City, where he was taken into custody, Johnson said.
