Dear Editor:

We recently received a letter sent by the current mayor and some of the city council endorsing their choice for mayor.

The letter infers that Larry Wright (the other candidate) isn’t a proven leader. It said “we support the candidates with the necessary experience and the skills needed to get the job done.”К

Larry’s education, experience, skills and leadership are impressive and he is very qualified to serve Centerville as mayor. He has a bachelor's degree, two Master's degrees, and a Ph.D. in Business Organization and Management. His numerous military leadership accomplishments and distinguished service commendations are enumerated in his biography and military service as found on his website lawrencewright.org under “Who’s Larry?”К

He has also served in four bishoprics: twice as bishop, and as a stake president.

Larry has immense leadership skills and experience, which have been lauded by many countries, as well as NATO. Before voting, look at Larry’s website and get to know him.К Email him at lwright.dr@gmail.com.К

Larry has served us well on the council and will be an excellent mayor for Centerville. Utah House of Representative Roger Barrus knows both candidates, and was asked by each for his endorsement.КHe endorses Larry in an open letter, which is also found on Larry’s website.

Well-said, Joan. They also don't consider Stephanie Ivie's 10 years of attending city council meetings or George McEwan's experience in the Military and with Utopia as "experience." That's because by "experienced," they really mean "people who think like they do."

Larry (and to a lesser extent Stephanie and George) have been vilified by the opposition as being "critical." They're certainly critical thinkers. But what's "critical" about recognizing problems and suggesting solutions to those problems? Again, "critical" is another synonym the opposition is using for "people who don't think like they do."

Larry, Stephanie and George are each gifted individuals (and I stress "individuals") who see problems and can find solutions to those problems. They've been criticized for running on "one issue" because of their focus on Utopia but Utopia IS all of the city’s issues! When we don't have enough money for road repairs because we paid Utopia that money instead, it's a problem.

Paul Cutler has had 8 years of involvement with Utopia to implement any of his solutions but Utopia is still performing poorly. What's going to suddenly change if we elect him mayor? Nothing. Larry, on the other hand, has the background and ability to actually implement fresh solutions to turn Utopia around and make it profitable.

Finally, Larry (and Stephanie and George) are not career politicians with political aspirations. Their motives are pure, to help Centerville City be the best it can be. I've had enough of the "collective brain" that has ruled us for the last 8 years. Elect Larry Wright, Stephanie Ivie and George McEwan and let's take back our voice!
