CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Police are looking for a man they say assaulted a woman earlier this month.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the suspect offered a woman at a Layton bus stop a ride home. The 39-year-old woman reluctantly got into the vehicle, according to Assistant Clearfield Police Chief Mike Stenquist. After stopping at a convenience store, the man allegedly drove the woman to the back parking lot of an apartment complex, where he allegedly made sexual advances to her, Stenquist said.

The woman attempted to exit the vehicle and flee, but was allegedly assaulted by the man. She received several minor injuries but was able to escape. She was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police were able to view surveillance video from the convenience store. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20’s or 30’s. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue and gray shirt and driving a silver older model Dodge Durango.

The public is asked to contact the Clearfield Police at 801-525-2806.
