CENTERVILLE – Miles Bell served a two year mission in Tacloban, the Philippines, the city virtually destroyed by the record-breaking Nov. 10 typhoon.
Now owner of Dave’s Auto Center in Centerville and Layton, he wants to help, after hearing of the number of deaths and suffering. But lack of transportation to the area led him to take another course.
At the Centerville store, 385 S. Frontage Road, all proceeds from any labor performed on vehicles on Nov. 23 will be donated to the American Red Cross or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
Customers can write a check for a minimum of $50 an hour for labor, he said. They can bring their own parts for a repair, or can purchase them wholesale.
“We have another technician who also served a mission in the Philippines, and our staff has shown amazing support and are willing to donate their time for this fundraiaser,” Bell said.
“The people of the Philippines are like my family. I am grateful for the opportunity to do a small service for them, and look forward to going back soon to assist the people,” he said.
