SYRACUSE – Antelope Island, located in Syracuse, will host a trio of events in December for residents looking for a fun activity to do during the winter.
The park is currently planning on hosting a trio of events, happening on either Friday or Saturday, starting Dec. 14.
The first event will be the Mushroom Springs hike on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 1-3 p.m. That day, the ranch curator will meet hikers at the Fielding Garr Ranch for a four-mile hike to Mushroom Springs, and will discuss the history of the water usage there.
It is also a chance for hikers to possibly see a bald eagle that may be roosting in the trees.
On Friday, Dec. 20, the island will host a Full Moon Hike at Buffalo Point. Residents will go on a one-mile round trip hike starting at 8:30 p.m.
Hikers will learn about the history of the Great Salt Lake and Ancient Lake Bonneville during the hike. Those attending will need to bring a flashlight and snacks.
Those attending are also told to dress for cold weather.
The park will conclude the weekend activities for the month with another Mushroom Springs Hike on Saturday, Dec. 28.
