1930-2013

Ronald Thomas Daly, 83, of Bountiful, passed from this life to be reunited with his dear wife, Donna Swasey Daly on December 3, 2013. Ron was born March 3, 1930 in Tooele to George F. Daly and Eva Dean Judd.

Ron is survived by his children: Ronald T. Jr. (Diane), San Jose, CA; Diana (Kevin) Glover, Myrtle Beach, SC; Kathy (Adrian) Morgan, Herndon, VA; Richard S. (Terri), Clarksville, MD; John M. (Michelle), Woods Cross. He is also survived by his sister Leah, and his sister-in-law, Fannie; in addition to many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Donna, his parents, and his brother George R. Daly. Ron was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. The night he met Donna he wrote in his journal, “Tonight I met Donna Swasey. God willing I will marry her.” Shortly thereafter, Ron and Donna were sealed for time and all eternity in the Laie Hawaii Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on September 16, 1955.

Ron’s passion was teaching and nurturing others. Over the span of his 40 year career he directed Human Life and Family Development programs for the States of Nebraska and Tennessee and also served as the National Extension Leader for Human Life and Family Development for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. Ron enjoyed studying the scriptures and the lives of Latter-day prophets. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends, and routing for the underdog. He also enjoyed watching and listening to his children and grandchildren develop their talents in music and art. Whether serving his country in the Navy during the Korean War or serving a mission for his church at the LDS Institute of Religion in Gainesville, FL, Ron was always ready to offer his strength and his spirit to help others in need.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Legacy House of Bountiful, Dr. Tyler Williams, and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care and support of Ron. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ron’s honor may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund c/o LDS Philanthropies, 1450 N. University Avenue, Provo, UT 84604.
