FARMINGTON – The man who admitted to robbing a Key Bank in September will serve five years to life in the Utah State Prison.
Jerry Greg Hopes, 55, was sentenced to the prison term last week in 2nd District Court after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated robbery in October.
Hopes was arrested shortly after the Sept. 13 robbery at Key Bank, 1065 N. U.S. 89, in North Salt Lake.
He entered the bank just before 4 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding an undisclosed amount of cash. He displayed a knife, then fled, police said at the time.
Bank employees had taken a photo of the car and gave it to police. A Division of Motor Vehicles officer saw the car on I-15 and followed it to a home in Salt Lake City. Police then arrested Hopes after they found cash from the bank and the knife.
