LAYTON – America First Credit Union will provide a safe and easy way to destroy old documents Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.

It’s part of a way to avoid identity theft by shredding of documents during the credit union’s free shred day, a press release said.

Documents may be shredded at locations in Layton, at 425 W. Heritage Park Boulevard; West Valley,  at 4976 W. 3500 South, and also in Draper and Ogden.

America First suggests shredding any old documents that display entire or partial account numbers and other personal information including account statements, paycheck stubs, outdated identification, old tax returns and credit card offers.

Tax returns that display Social Security numbers should also be shredded after three or four years, the release said.
