Mother was born June 1, 1924 in Preston Idaho to Erma Jane Smith and Lewis Walker Smith joining two sisters, Ione, Maurine, and a brother Cecil, all deceased. For the next 10 years LaPriel and her siblings created fond memories of rural Depression era life, before moving to Bountiful where she resided for the next 65 years.
LaPriel graduated from Davis High School Class of 1942. LaPriel married John J. Wheelwright and are the parents of Sheri Nielsen, John C. Wheelwright, Tami Hopkins, and Val S. Wheelwright. She is survived by her ex-husband, her children, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. In 1972, LaPriel fulfilled a lifelong dream by obtaining a college degree. She graduated Magna Kum Laude from the University of Utah. She was particularly proud of her mastery of Latin. LaPriel went on to teach English and Journalism at Bountiful High School before embarking on a career as a Realtor. She started with Century 21 and ended her career with Shiner Real Estate as a partner. For twenty-five years, LaPriel helped families find homes in the Farmington and Bountiful area.
After visiting her daughters in Arizona, LaPriel decided the warmer, sunny weather was calling and she moved to Mesa, Arizona. During these last years, LaPriel crocheted many wall hangings for her friends and family.
She passed on December 18, 2013 at the young age of 89. Graveside services will be at the Bountiful Cemetery on December 28, 2013 at 2 p.m.
