SALT LAKE CITY - A group of Davis County singers is joining in a massive, city-wide party to ring in the new year.

The Davis Master Chorale will perform their “Winter Wonderland” concert on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square, an event that is part of Salt Lake City’s three day EVE celebration. The concert, which is one of several being featured around the city Dec. 29-31, also features several guest musicians and even a storyteller.

“We’re what’s referred to as the anchor performance,” said Art Mountford, a member of the choir.

Sharing the stage with the chorale will be the men’s vocal trio Stone Deep, the piano-violin duo Moon Light and the woodwind quintet Aspen Winds. Davis County-based storyteller Rachel Hedman will perform with the quintet.

The chorale has five numbers planned for the concert, one of which comes from their Christmas performance held earlier this month at the Farmington Community Arts Center. In addition to their rendition of “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful,” the group will also perform the well-known songs “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.”

“It’s one we sang last spring, and they asked us to perform it again,” Mountford said of “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.”

Other numbers include “Waitin’ for the Light to Shine” from the musical “Big River,”  and “Exsultate Justi” from the movie “Empire of the Sun.”

The concert is only one of the events going on in Salt Lake as part of the EVE celebration. There are live music opportunities of all types, including a sing-along of favorite children’s songs that will be held the same night in the Assembly Hall from 5-6 p.m.

Other events include a massive BALLroom dance party, a Comic Con-related costume contest, fireworks for kids and a Utah Jazz game. Several Salt Lake organizations, including Discovery Gateway and The Leonardo, will also be involved in the event.

Tickets are $15 for a three-day pass to all nine venues, which will let you in to all EVE-related activities. For a complete list of EVE events and locations or to purchase passes, visit
