FARMINGTON – Registration is underway for the upcoming series of Master Gardener classes to be offered by Utah State University Extension.
The classes will start Feb. 8 and be held once a week on Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. They will continue for 12 sessions.
In addition, 40 hours of mandatory volunteer hours are required to receive certification in the program. Volunteer sites include the Utah Botanical Center, Varga Arboretum, Utah House in Kaysville, demonstration gardens, and at plant diagnostic clinics, a USU press release said.
The instruction portion of the program is provided by specialists in their fields coupled with hands-on opportunities.
Topics covered include trees and shrubs, flowers, insects and diseases, landscape design, turf grass, water conservation, fruits and vegetables, pesticides, soils, nutrients and more related to horticulture and gardening.
Program cost is $200. Registration forms are available at the Extension Office in the Davis County Historic Memorial Courthouse, 28 E. State Street, in downtown Farmington, or call Stacie at 451-3403 to have one mailed.
