FARMINGTON - A man accused of killing a Bountiful woman six years ago has again been declared incompetent to stand trial.

The first-degree murder trial for Phillip Joseph Simmons has been delayed again and he has been ordered back to the Utah State Hospital for further treatment.

Simmons, 41, is charged in the murder of Bountiful resident Susanne Fry in January, 2008.

Simmons allegedly stabbed Fry more than 20 times in her apartment. At the time of his arrest, police said Simmons told them the two had argued over a plate of food.

Fry had taken Simmons in because he was homeless, prosecutors have said.

Simmons has already been found incompetent to stand trial twice. He had been receiving treatment at the state hospital. However, in January, 2012, he was found competent to stand trial and a December trial date was set.

That trial was later cancelled.
