Lady Darts, Braves, Wildcats claim wins

BOUNTIFUL – The Davis Lady Darts girls’ basketball team picked up their second win in three games last Friday after beating Northridge 55-40 at Northridge High School.

At East High School, the Bountiful Braves doubled up the Leopards in a 45-22 win.

Woods Cross also won its region game over Cyprus, 55-52.

Davis downs Northridge behind Day, Beecher

The Lady Darts picked up their second Region 1 victory last Friday after beating Northridge 55-40 at Northridge High School.

Sarah Beecher led the scoring charge with 18 points. McKenzie Day scored 17 points for Davis, nearly matching her season high of 18 points scored on Jan. 10 against Weber.

The Darts defense also held the Knights to 12 first half points.

Bountiful doubles up East, win 45-22

Lady Braves’ Tiana Dougher and Kennedy Redding each finished with a double-double for Bountiful in a 45-22 drubbing over East High School last Friday.

Dougher scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds, and Redding scored 12 points with 12 rebounds. Linette McLachlan added six points for Bountiful in the win.

The Lady Braves defense didn’t allow East to score more than six points in any quarter.

Lady Wildcats come back from big deficit to beat Cyprus 55-52

Woods Cross was down 14 points after the first half ended in last Friday’s game against Cyprus at Cyprus High School.

Thanks to a second-half charge, however, the Wildcats were able to walk out of the Pirates’s gym with a 55-52 victory.

Woods Cross trimmed the lead to eight points after the third quarter, outscoring the Pirates 15-9. 

Woods Cross followed its third quarter performance by scoring 21 fourth quarter points to complete the comeback victory.

Aubree Riddle scored a game-high 17 points for the Wildcats in the win. Halle Smith scored 11 points and Marissa Brunner scored nine points.

Games this week

Viewmont will travel to Layton High School to take on the Lady Lancers on the road Friday night.

Bountiful and Woods Cross will both be at home, taking on Highland and Kearns, respectively.

Davis’s next game will be against Syracuse at home on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
