FARMINGTON – The third time was the charm – or maybe it was the fourth time – for the 2014-15 school calendar outlined for Davis School District students.

Meeting the varied needs of teachers worried about AP tests at the end of the year, parents wanting a long spring break and everyone wanting as long a summer as possible, meant repeated attempts at getting approval from the Davis School Board for the calendar.

“We did listen to our constituents and made adjustments,” said David Lovato, a board member.

“I for one changed my vote due to the many comments from citizens,” said Burke Larsen, another board member.

The traditional school year is now set to begin on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 and include a two-week winter recess, from Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, and a week-long spring break from Mar. 28 to April 5. The last day of school is Thursday, June 4, 2015.
