CENTERVILLE - A Roy woman was booked into the Davis County Jail early Saturday morning after police say she led them on a high speed chase going the wrong direction on the Legacy Highway.

Vickie Lynn Diamond, 36, was booked on suspicion of third-degree felony evading, reckless driving, speeding, going the wrong way and driving under the influence of alcohol following the incident that began at 2 a.m.

A Centerville police sergeant was on his way home in a marked patrol car headed north on Legacy Highway when he was passed by the Chrysler 300 Diamond was allegedly driving headed the wrong direction at a high rate of speed, according to a press release issued by Centerville police.

The car had been traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on Highway 89 and entered Legacy still going in the wrong direction.

The sergeant began pursuing the Chrysler in an attempt to stop the car before it encountered traffic, the press release said. Officers shut down northbound traffic at Parrish Lane in Centerville and 500 South in Woods Cross during the pursuit.

They set up a roadblock near 1275 North in Centerville and road spikes were deployed just north of Parrish Lane, successfully deflating the tires on Diamond's car. The chase came to an end on the Parrish Lane overpass in the northbound lanes without causing any injuries.

Diamond allegedly passed five northbound cars while traveling over 90 mph in the wrong direction between Farmington and Centerville.

Police say that a breath test conducted an hour after Diamond was first observed showed her blood alcohol content at 0.168. A blood test was also taken and results are pending.
