FARMINGTON –  After 18 years as a fixture at 120 W. Parrish Lane in Centerville, the Dogroom has opened a second location at 88 S. 200 East in Farmington.

Owner Megan Johnson is no stranger to dogs, having started showing Great Danes when she was 9 years old. As a part of that, she traveled to various states showing the dogs in championship shows.

Interspersed in that heavy involvement with dogs, Johnson worked as a welder for nine years, but decided to return to her love of dogs, getting into the business of grooming, she said.

“I started on my own, and by word of mouth I had so many dogs coming in, hired a bather, and so the business grew,” Johnson said.

Over the years, she’s shaved down horses, rabbits, goats, cats and dogs.

“My love is grooming. I am patient and kind to the animals,” Johnson said.

The Farmington facility offers cat and dog boarding and plenty of parking.

Remodeling of that building was a family affair, involving husband Kim and son Jaden, along with nephew Bobo Johnson.

Megan Johnson is a dog owner of herself and was trained by outstanding groomers in California.

“It’s a great business and we plan to be around a long time,” she said.

The Dogroom is offering a Valentine’s Day special, a well.
