KAYSVILLE – The Davis Darts boys’ basketball team remained unbeaten in Region 1 play after taking down Layton 46-35 last Friday.
Viewmont stayed one game behind Davis for first place in the region, beating Syracuse 68-39.
Bountiful also extended its winning streak to 11 games after beating Cyprus 89-31.
At Woods Cross, the Wildcats won a defensive battle over Highland, 51-39.
Darts stay unbeaten in Region 1, beat Layton 46-35
Mike Hibbert of Layton scored a game-high 20 points Friday night against the Davis Darts boys’ basketball team.
It wasn’t enough to help the Lancers win; however, as Davis held Layton to just 35 points in a 46-35 win.
Abel Porter and Matt Morrell each scored in double figures for the Darts, finishing with 15 and 14 points respectively.
Elijah Kletzli scored seven points and had 10 rebounds in the win.
Vikings win third straight, beat Syracuse 68-39
The Viewmont Vikings boys’ basketball team scored 21 points in the second quarter of Friday night’s basketball game against Syracuse.
They also held the Titans to four points in the quarter, which aided the Vikings in a 68-39 win.
The Vikings held a one-point lead after the first quarter, 13-12, before its second quarter scoring outburst. The Vikings also tacked on 22 points in the fourth quarter.
McKay Butler scored 25 points and had five rebounds with four assists and three steals. Aaron Dalton scored 10 points for Viewmont in the win.
Josh Thalman scored 13 points for the Titans in the loss.
Braves blow out Pirates 89-31 for 11th straight win
By halftime of Friday night’s game between the Bountiful Braves and Cyprus Pirates, Bountiful had built a 33 point lead at 44-11.
By the end of the game the Braves had nearly tripled the Pirates’ score in an 89-31 loss.
Zac Seljaas scored 29 points and Sam Merrill added 10 points in the win. As many as 13 players scored at least two points for Bountiful.
Woods Cross wins defensive battle over Highland, 51-39
The Woods Cross Wildcats boys’ basketball team held Highland to nine combined points in the second and third quarter of last Friday’s game.
The defensive effort was good enough for Woods Cross to claim a 51-39 win over the Rams.
Xequille Harry had a tremendous night on the floor, scoring 23 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Garret Grant scored nine points and had seven rebounds and five assists in the win.
Games this week
Davis will hit the road Friday night to take on Fremont, and Viewmont will be at home to host Northridge in Region 1 action.
In Region 6, the Braves will host Judge Memorial and the Wildcats will travel to Clearfield to face the Falcons.
