BOUNTIFUL – Mixed temperatures in the past few weeks have led to mixed fishing reports in Davis County’s local fisheries.
Most have reported fair to moderate success, but warn that anglers should tread carefully if they plan to ice-fish in certain areas.
Anglers reported unstable ice conditions at Bountiful Pond. Recent warm temperatures has allowed pools to form in some areas, which has led to fewer and fewer anglers venturing onto the ice.
Farmington Pond is reporting good fishing results, despite light activity. Ice fishing is still permitted; however, anglers are warned to head out at their own risk.
Holmes Creek Reservoir is reporting good fishing conditions for bass, trout and sunfish. Small rainbow trout can still be caught there as well. Most anglers have had success using jigs with wax worms.
Anglers who want to fish only on the shore may do so at the Jensen Nature Park Pond in Syracuse. Half of the pond on the north end has melted, so fishing on the shore should be possible.
The Kaysville Ponds is still frozen in some areas, and standing water has been seen by anglers.
